Full-Time Nursing Instructor – UPMC Jameson School of Nursing at HamotErie, PA | Monday–Friday | Day Shift
UPMC Jameson School of Nursing at Hamot is seeking a passionate and experienced Full-Time Nursing Instructor to join our dedicated academic team. In this vital role, you’ll shape the future of nursing by guiding students both in the classroom and clinical environments.
Title and salary will be determined based on education and nursing experience.
About the Role
As a Nursing Instructor, you will have the authority, responsibility, and accountability for delivering high-quality nursing education. You will provide didactic and clinical instruction, mentor students, and lead faculty in delivering meaningful learning experiences. Your expertise will ensure students master the nursing process to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
+ Deliver effective classroom and clinical instruction based on evidence-based practices.
+ Lead faculty teams within assigned courses.
+ Develop inclusive, respectful, and student-centered learning environments.
+ Guide students in applying critical thinking and clinical reasoning in both academic and healthcare settings.
+ Serve as a professional role model, fostering a culture of trust, respect, and professionalism.
+ Engage in faculty development, school governance, and continuous quality improvement.
+ Participate in curriculum design, evaluation, and scholarly initiatives.
+ Use student and peer feedback for continuous growth and instructional improvement.
+ Maintain active membership in professional nursing organizations.
Qualifications
+ Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
+ Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
+ Precepting experience required; clinical teaching in a pre-licensure program preferred.
+ Previous teaching experience preferred.
+ Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification preferred.
+ Appointment and continued employment contingent upon approval by the PA State Board of Nursing.
Licensure, Certifications & Clearances
+ Current Pennsylvania RN license (or a multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact if applicable).
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification compliant with AHA standards (within 30 days of hire).
+ UPMC-approved nursing certification preferred.
+ Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance, Act 34 Criminal Background Check, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprint Clearance, all with renewals as required.
Note: If hired under an out-of-state NLC license, new Pennsylvania residency requires PA licensure within 60 days.
