    Title: Production Team Lead Reports To: Production Supervisor

     

    Department: Production FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Job Summary:

    The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations and providing frontline leadership within a designated production area at American Rheinmetall. This hands-on role combines team coordination with active participation in production tasks including welding, machining, and cutting. The Team Lead supports production goals, ensures adherence to safety and quality standards, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor.

    Essential Functions:

    + Lead and support production staff by providing direction, on-the-job training, and technical guidance to ensure daily objectives are met.

    + Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to plan and schedule work, allocate labor resources, and address production bottlenecks.

    + Ensure production operations are completed on time and meet quality standards by actively participating in and monitoring daily workflow.

    + Promote and enforce standardized work practices, safe operations, and clean, organized work areas.

    + Assist in the operation of key equipment such as saws, break press, waterjet, laser and welding machines; ensure team members are cross-trained.

    + Leverage welding and shop experience to troubleshoot production issues and support team development.

    + Recommend improvements to processes, equipment utilization, and layout to enhance efficiency and safety.

    + Contribute to development and maintenance of a skills matrix and support continuous improvement initiatives.

    + Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality systems including AS9100 and ISO 14001.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    Provides day-to-day leadership to team members within the production area but does not have direct hire/fire authority.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Working knowledge of welding and fab shop processes preferred

    + Familiarity with lean manufacturing and standardized work practices

    + Ability to read and interpret production drawings, schedules, and technical instructions

    + Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ERP systems)

    + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

    + Exceptional oral and written communication skills

    + Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment

    + Knowledge of or ability to learn AS9100 and ISO 14001 standards

    Education:

    High school diploma or GED required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience:

    At least 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, including hands-on welding. Previous leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.

    Background Prerequisites:

    Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment

    + Welding certifications or formal training

    + Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES)

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

    With or without reasonable accommodations, this role requires the ability to:

    + Frequently: Stand, walk, lift/move materials (up to 25 lbs), and use hands to handle or operate machinery

    + Occasionally: Sit, lift up to 50 pounds

    + Continuously: Engage in collaborative team communication and active floor oversight

    + Exposure to shop floor noise, moving equipment, and other typical manufacturing hazards

    + Required use of PPE (personal protective equipment) as dictated by company policy
