Job Description:

+ The Mechanical Engineer SR 1 position requires 10+ years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

+ A professional engineer license is desired.

Responsibilities:

+ Job responsibilities include mechanical engineering designs on small and medium retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects.

+ Leading in conducting mechanical design activities including pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, valve selection, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations.

+ Developing datasheets for valves and other equipment.

+ Providing technical direction to designers, developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

+ Making sound independent decisions with minimal information and assisting in checkout and startup of systems when necessary.

Skillsets:

+ Skillsets and expertise required for this position include significant experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities and the ability to take the lead role for detailed design activities.

+ Significant knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles, proficiency with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements.

+ Experience in development, preparation and checking of P&IDs.

+ Experience with overall design and layout of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets, and specification of tanks, pumps, and balance of plant equipment, experience with hydraulic calculations.

+ Pipe-Flo (or similar software) experience is preferred.

+ Significant working knowledge of processes equipment including piping, valves (manual/control/relief), pumps, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.

+ Experience with relief valve and control sizing, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
