**Position Title:** Control Systems IT Field Technician I-V (DOT-PHMSA)

Position Purpose:

This position performs tasks for the repair and maintenance of operational technology or IT type plant wide control systems. This position is responsible to troubleshoot, inspect, repair, all hardware and software associated with these control systems. Additionally, this position is responsible for plant communication systems and communication cabling.

Essential Duties:

+ Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of communication or control systems in a safe, logical, and efficient manner, in compliance with all company and safety regulations.

+ With assistance, perform basic troubleshooting and assist in the installation/repair/maintenance of the following:

+ Computers

+ Ethernet switches

+ Fiber optic cabling

+ Ethernet cabling

+ Computer operating systems

+ Video surveillance systems

+ Network monitoring systems

+ Ensure that tools and equipment are in sound working condition and maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and efficient manner.

+ Assist with preventive maintenance, repair, and deployment of all plant control systems and associated software or hardware.

+ Assist with as-built documentation of controls systems infrastructure via DGCs redlining procedure.

Qualifications:

+ Knowledge of server hardware, operating systems, scripting/programming, networking, database technologies, Linux/Unix, Windows server, and workstation operating systems.

+ Associate degree in Information Technology; or

+ Associate degree in Electronics/Telecommunications Technology or Instrumentation and Control Technology, with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher or both CompTIA A+ Core 1 & Core 2 and CompTIA Network + Certifications; or

+ Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher or both CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network + Certifications.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Excellent customer service skills.

+ Able to effectively solve problems.

+ A valid driver’s license.

+ Resume required.

+ This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) (PHMSA) qualified position.

+ Able to analyze data and reports, implement recommendations, and follow verbal and written instructions.

+ Able to communicate effectively with others and present information in a clear, concise manner.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

Requires constant walking, hand coordination, and standing, occasional stooping/bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, occasional hand grip of 45 pounds, low level and elevated activity, lifting and carrying up to 55 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level; sitting, lifting 50 pounds from knee to shoulder high, crawling, pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds, and use of keyboard/computer and test equipment. Requires continuous use of tools and occasional turning of valves and use of foot controls. Over 45% of the incumbent’s shift is spent outdoors. This position is continuously exposed to noise; frequently exposed to dirt, dust, chemicals, extreme heat and cold; and occasionally exposed to vibration, poor ventilation, and confined areas. Will be required to wear dust masks, respirators, and full-face Scott Air Paks when necessary. Frequently requires working in high climbing areas on grating, ladders, scaffolding, and other areas requiring use of safety equipment and may involve work at heights from 10 to 150 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards. Requires finger dexterity, good color vision, hearing, and the ability to speak. This position must be respirator qualified and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

**Wage:** $40.75 - $57.37 per hour
