Dakota County Technical College seeks an Unlimited Full-Time Speech Communication Instructor that is dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. The Communication Studies courses at DCTC focus on developing a stronger understanding of the nature of human interaction by exploring how messages are created, transmitted, and received through the use of verbal and nonverbal symbols.
Duties Include:
+ Teach several communication studies courses.
+ Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to, instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation and records, student recruitment and retention, student advising and placement, classroom/climate preparation and management, interpersonal relations, promote safety in all aspects of program activities, purchase supplies and equipment, participate in professional development experiences, work as an effective team member of the department, maintenance of professional skills and credentials, and participate on college committees.
Salary Range:
$43,067.00 - 94,542.00 USD Annually
* Salary placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2024 - 2025 MSCF Contract (http://www.minnstate.edu/system/working/docs/contracts/mscf-contract.pdf#page=61) , and conducted by the Minnesota State System Office.
Minimum Qualifications
_Education Requirement_
+ Master's degree with a major in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies or
+ Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies.
Preferred Qualification
+ Higher education teaching experience with a diverse student population
+ Experience with learning communities or team teaching
+ Experience in curriculum development
+ Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including on-line instruction
+ Experience developing and using student-centered, active and experiential learning strategies
+ Experience integrating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction
+ Experience assessing student academic achievement of campus-wide and classroom learning outcomes
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm
