Summary Statement
CE Communication Coordinator is responsible for coordination of communication, education, community engagement and marketing of various city programs. Works closely with the various city departments, employing groundbreaking sustainability and environmental stewardship methods and best practices. This position works under general supervision.
Essential Functions
+ Performs some duties of lower-level related positions, may provide assistance and training to others and performs more complex, skilled tasks.
+ Develops and helps execute all communication, education and marketing programs. Provides ongoing communication and marketing advice and guidance to the department in crafting appropriate messages and outreach tactics that support the organization’s goals and outreach needs. Works collaboratively to ensure messaging is aligned citywide.
+ Manages the creation of marketing collateral and materials working closely with city in various forms of media including digital, print and video. Manages the full life cycle of projects, including initial brainstorming with stakeholders, development of a communications plan, execution, providing timely status updates and developing a final report. Writes copy and edits related material (e.g., marketing collateral, press releases, media announcements, etc.). Develops and updates annual department calendar with important communication events and periods. May work directly with consultants to ensure externally developed materials meet city brand and quality standards.
+ Helps plan, create and administer digital outreach activities including web site updates, social media posts, email distribution lists and invites, online advertising and other future mobile communication tools and programs. Assists with the development of content calendars, generation of social media material and ensuring digital outreach plans stay up to date. Assists with the monitoring of social media platforms and community-based websites for timely responses to the public. Plans and helps facilitate community outreach activities and events for the department using a variety of public information gathering techniques.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field and two years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of:
+ current mainstream web content management, web analytics and graphics
+ paid media marketing strategies and local media organizations
+ photography, videography and video editing
+ general business office equipment and procedures
+ computer operations including related software applications
+ record keeping and filing practices
+ and general customer service techniques.
Ability to:
+ coordinate, prioritize and organize multiple programs
+ analyze data
+ create detailed reports
+ communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
+ perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Three years of experience managing and coordinating technical and public information, online content and social media. Experience with sustainability programs and/or communications.
