Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Supervisor, Manager, or Director to lead and oversee payroll operations in Carlsbad, California. This role requires a strong grasp of payroll systems, multi-state compliance, and California labor laws to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with exceptional leadership and analytical skills to drive process improvements and maintain compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Manage payroll operations across multiple states, ensuring adherence to varying tax laws, wage regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour compliance, overtime rules, and meal/rest break requirements.
• Generate detailed payroll reports, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership using strong analytical skills.
• Proactively identify and address risks within payroll processes, including compliance issues and inefficiencies.
• Serve as the expert on payroll system workflows, troubleshooting issues and optimizing processes for maximum efficiency.
• Collaborate with HR, finance, and legal teams to ensure payroll operations align with company policies and objectives.
• Conduct regular audits of payroll data to verify accuracy, reconcile accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and clarity, addressing questions related to deductions, taxes, and benefits.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance payroll processes to improve efficiency and scalability. Requirements • Extensive experience managing payroll operations, including processing payroll for over 500 employees.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
• Expertise in California labor laws, including wage and hour regulations and overtime rules.
• Proficiency in payroll software, with experience in platforms such as Paycom or similar systems.
• Demonstrated ability to process bi-weekly payroll accurately and efficiently.
• Strong analytical skills with experience generating and interpreting payroll reports.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, particularly in identifying and mitigating risks in payroll processes.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and address employee concerns.
