A well-established, innovative company in the life sciences sector is seeking a highly skilled Income Tax Manager to join its growing tax team. This is a high-visibility role with strong potential for upward mobility and professional growth. Reporting directly to the Director of Tax, this individual will be a key contributor in managing all aspects of income tax compliance, provision, and strategic planning initiatives.
The ideal candidate is both technically proficient and forward-thinking, with experience navigating the complexities of a public company environment and a desire to help shape a world-class tax function.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee the review and preparation of U.S. federal, state, local, and international income tax filings, including indirect tax returns (e.g., use and property tax).
+ Lead the preparation and review of the company’s quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.
+ Maintain tax-related general ledger accounts, track attributes, and ensure accuracy of tax entries and reconciliations.
+ Evaluate and implement income tax planning opportunities and advise on the tax impacts of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
+ Conduct technical research on a wide range of domestic and international tax issues and policy changes.
+ Manage income tax audits and interact with tax authorities; coordinate with external auditors and advisors on provision and compliance matters.
+ Provide mentorship and day-to-day oversight to junior team members to ensure high-quality, timely execution of responsibilities.
+ Drive process improvements across the tax compliance and reporting functions, leveraging automation where appropriate to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ CPA required.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in income tax, including at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
+ Experience working with public companies in either public accounting or in-house roles.
+ Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax laws and ASC 740.
+ Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (MSA, MST, or equivalent).
+ Familiarity with tax software tools such as OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, Sage Fixed Assets, Checkpoint, Alteryx, and Oracle.
+ Background in technology, life sciences, or biotech/medical device industries.
