    Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

     

    The Director of Mission serves to ensure the mission is deeply embedded across all facets of the organization providing spiritual development, leadership support, student support and service, accreditation support, community partnerships and benefit, and curriculum and program development, community engagement and service, education and communication, and resources in support of operational success. The Director of Mission develops and manages initiatives and programs that promote our mission and Catholic values and contributes to a collaborative culture where associates bring their best, share their heart, and are fulfilled in making contributions to advance the mission of the College.

    Essential Job Functions

    + _​_ Spiritual Development and Support: Develop, coordinate, and lead spiritual programs and mission engagement initiatives, serving students and associates with a campus ministry framework. Organize Catholic masses, prayer services, and other spiritual development events. Foster personal and spiritual growth aligned with our Catholic values, mission, and the Sisters of Mercy charism.

    + Catholic Higher Education Expertise: In consultation with Market Mission VP, support leadership as an expert on communicating the College's Catholic identity, provide insight on the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs), Ex Corde Ecclesiae, Empowered by the Spirit, and other relevant teaching documents.

    + Leadership Support: Collaborate with faculty, staff, administration, and students to support and enhance recruitment, retention, embedded curriculum (i.e. service learning), co-curricular programming, and planning efforts (e.g., serve as a liaison to Catholic and faith-based high schools, organizations, and the Sisters of Mercy to build relationships, recruit, retain, and engage students and alumni). Assess and advise on issues requiring mission-based decision-making/discernment.

    + Student Support and Service: Administer mission-oriented support programs such as the Food Pantry, Student Emergency Fund, Hoffman Ambassador Program, and Service Immersion Trip Programs to promote the application of the mission and values among students and associates.

    + Accreditation Support: Oversee mission-focused initiatives (i.e. HLC Criterion I) aligned with accreditation and regulatory agency requirements from conception to completion via developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and influence performance, improvement, and planning.

    + Community Partnerships and Benefit: Establish and strengthen relationships with local 501(c)(3) service agencies to enhance service opportunities. Lead the annual college-wide Day of Service and support school/division/department service activity. Ensure community benefit activities are consistently collected and reported to appropriate parties.

    + Committee Service: Serve on and lead mission committees as assigned within entities including but not limited to the College, Board of Trustees, Conference of Mercy Higher Education, and BSMH ministry.

    + Education and Communication: Provide regular spiritual reflections, prayers, training, and resources that build positive morale, a sense of common mission, collaboration, and advancement of College’s strategic plan and priorities.

    + Resource Support: Provide support to philanthropic pursuits including grants and donor engagement.

    Education

    Bachelors Degree Theology, Divinity, Religious or Pastoral Studies or related degree from an accredited institution (required)

     

    Masters in Theology, Divinity, Religious or Pastoral Studies or related degree from an accredited institution (preferred)

     

    Post Graduate Degree in Higher Education Administration, Leadership, Theology or related field (preferred)

    Work Experience

    5+ years of administrative experience in Catholic higher education, healthcare or related setting (required)
