POSITION BRAND DESCRIPTION

The Global Logistics Cold Chain Transportation COE organization collaborates with various functions to drive the cold chain transportation innovation technical agenda for the global transportation of temperature-controlled drug substances, semi-finished and finished products. The primary focus is to drive the efficient and effective continuous improvement processes to continue strengthening agility and resiliency to our fit for purpose transportation logistics processes.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The **Associate - Cold Chain Transportation COE role** provides technical leadership in temperature-controlled logistics. This position partners with Lilly Manufacturing Sites, Lilly Affiliates, Logistics Service Providers, Packaging, Engineering, Regulatory, Technical Services, Procurement, and Quality teams to ensure continuous improvement in in cold chain protective solutions and efficient transportation processes. This role will oversee the implementation and effectiveness of best practices, driving operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

+ **Project Management**

Lead business Case analysis, Risk Assessments, project design and implementation activities

+ **Control Strategy Ownership** :

Understand and support the control strategy for temperature-sensitive product cold chain packaging and transportation processes.

+ **Technical Support** :

Provide technical support to ensure reliable and compliant transportation of temperature-sensitive products.

+ **Process Improvement** :

Drive improvements in temperature-controlled shipping processes, including container evaluation, packaging system optimization, e and harmonization best practices.

+ **Documentation and Compliance** :

Prepare, and coordinate review and approval of technical documents such as change controls, regulatory submissions, deviation investigations, qualification protocols, and summary reports.

+ **Support to Distribution Centers**

Assist Lilly manufacturing and distribution organizations by providing technical expertise in the evaluation and implementation of low-cost solutions for domestic and international distribution of Cold Chain products.

+ **Technical Development and Training**

Enhance Cold Chain technical expertise by participating in training programs focused on cold chain evaluation, container evaluation methodologies, and thermal simulations. Develop comprehensive documentation and deliver training sessions to colleagues within the COE organization to share knowledge and best practices.

+ Continuous improvements

Network with external and internal resources to evaluate new technologies and processes to drive continuous improvement

KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES

+ **Temperature Controlled Shipping Processes** **:**

+ Support the Cold Chain Transportation Containers Evaluation Team.

+ Become a global subject matter expert for cold chain transportation, equipment, and shipping solutions.

+ Document the qualification state of shipping systems with data.

+ Optimize packaging system designs for better product protection and shipping economics.

+ Coordinate efforts with manufacturing sites, distribution centers and affiliates.

+ Lead/support technical projects to improve the distribution processes.

+ Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.

+ Evaluate and implement low-cost container solutions to enhance cost-efficiency.

+ Create and facilitate quality change controls and deviations.

+ **Temperature Control Processes Troubleshooting** **:**

+ Actively lead and /or support the temperature excursions evaluations, documentation and monitoring.

+ Provide technical support for deviation and distribution complaint investigations.

+ Prepare technical documentation for storage and distribution event evaluations.

+ **Cold Chain Transportation COE Global Logistics Objectives** **:**

+ Be a core member of the Cold Chain Centre of Excellence (COE) team.

+ Execute technical and continuous improvement agendas.

+ Strengthen partnerships with affiliates and external logistics partners.

+ Develop harmonization and best practices.

+ Support productivity opportunities based on business case.

+ Leverage technology to improve global logistics operations visibility and oversight.

+ Assist in resolving issues associated with business processes.

+ Enhance the tracking of Cold Chain Transportation COE metrics to ensure accurate and timely data collection.

+ Develop improved visualizations to effectively communicate key metrics and performance indicators to senior management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

+ Bachelor’s degree in science, Supply Chain or Equivalent work experience

+ 2+ years of working experience in cold chain packaging and transportation

+ Technical understanding of cold chain packaging, transportation, and warehousing operations.

EXPERIENCE

Familiarity with technology advancements in cold chain transportation and packaging. Experience thermal mapping process for temperature-controlled aircrafts, trailers, and ISO ocean containers. Capable of managing and balancing multiple initiatives concurrently. Project management experience. Applied knowledge of project management tools and processes. Strong problem-solving skills. Excellent self-management and organizational skills. Familiarity of logistics terms and processes for global product distribution.

Additional Information

Domestic and potentially some international travel required (5-10%). Will require occasional work in a logistics environment - local distribution center.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$57,750 - $129,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
