Job Description

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our sanitation department, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. This position involves cleaning machinery, disassembling and reassembling machine parts, and ensuring sanitation standards are met. A mechanical aptitude is required, and **experience with lockout/tagout procedures** is highly preferred. Candidates should be comfortable with heights and working with cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

+ Sanitize and clean production areas inside, outside, underneath, and at heights using chemicals and cleaning tools, while wearing appropriate PPE in warm, moist environments.

+ Evaluate sanitation effectiveness through visual inspection and chemical concentration checks.

+ Complete pre-operational inspections of equipment and document findings.

+ Accurately complete all sanitation documentation and understand Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), chemical labels, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

+ Contribute to incident investigations related to safety, food safety incidents, pest sightings, contaminations, allergen cross-contact, non-conformances, complaints, and audit findings.

+ Prepare production equipment for cleaning by following proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.

+ Disassemble, clean, and sanitize all food-processing equipment, including storage areas, handle line cleanups and document them, enforce safety rules and regulations, and monitor inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies.

+ Maintain plant cleanliness in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards.

+ Adhere to and practice all rules of Absolute Safety including safety, food safety, LOTO, GMPs.

+ Coordinate supplies, equipment, and contractor support for plant sanitation and pest control.

+ Log and record daily chemical usage.

+ Train employees in sanitation and related procedures and programs.

+ Communicate effectively with others, fostering a team atmosphere.

+ Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area at all times.

+ Ensure safety for yourself and others by checking areas of the line where others are working before starting equipment.

+ Clean equipment entering the washroom by following written procedures, dismantling, protecting electrical components, cleaning effectively, and reassembling with all guards, bolts, and parts safely replaced.

+ Possess comprehensive knowledge of all dry-cleaning procedures.

+ Use applicable classes of Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) with proper training and maintain valid certification.

+ Perform simple mathematical calculations.

+ Work independently and notify supervision of any issues.

+ Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Mechanical aptitude and experience with lockout/tagout procedures.

+ Experience in sanitation and cleaning within food production environments.

+ Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards.

+ Ability to work with cleaning products and chemicals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in industrial cleaning and janitorial duties.

+ Comfortable working with heights and ladders.

+ Ability to train employees in sanitation procedures.

Work Environment

This position operates in a loud GMP environment where hair and beard nets are required. Employees will work in non-climate-controlled hot environments and must adhere to GMP practices.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.65 - $18.15/hr.
