    Extended Job Title:

    Senior Advisor - Residence Life

    Position Description:

    Advises individuals and provides guidance services regarding routine to complex issues in assigned area. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. This title will require an extended, descriptive title.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    Supervision (20%)

    + Provide direct supervision of Residence Life Office Student Assistants, including hiring, training, and evaluations.

    + Provide indirect supervision through accountability of student leaders and Residence Life staff for administrative and related tasks.

    + Communicate effectively with direct supervisors regarding any concerns.

    + Support other Residence Life Advisors through training and assistance in performing job responsibilities.

    Administration (40%)

    + Provide general oversight of the Residence Life Office ensuring proper check-in and check-out of equipment, keys, and other office supplies.

    + Prepare, distribute and record minutes for assigned meetings.

    + Process and ensure accuracy of budget paperwork, travel paperwork, and additional administrative responsibilities in assigned areas.

    + Process hiring paperwork, onboarding procedures and maintain up-to-date rosters of staff and student leaders.

    + Conduct associated reference checks, drug tests, background checks and grade checks for assigned staff or student leaders.

    + Support, provide guidance for, and implement departmental customer service model.

    + Utilize departmental databases and online systems for the management of University Student Housing and Residence Life operations.

    Departmental and Campus Support (20%)

    + Support departmental initiatives within Residence Life including but not limited to in-hall, leadership and academic development and student support and staff operations.

    + Coordinate assigned reports including but not limited to monthly reports, time tracking, etc.

    + Manage solicitation requests as assigned.

    + Provide administrative support to departmental initiatives as requested.

    + Develop and maintain relationships with all areas of University Student Housing including Housing Services, Administrative and Business services, and Residence Life.

    Communication (20%)

    + Provide internal and external customer service via the phone, e-mail and in-person.

    + Be knowledgeable of campus resources and refer students, faculty and staff as appropriate.

    + Communicate necessary information to internal and external stakeholders as needed.

    + Ensure accurate reporting and provide follow-up as necessary with student and parent concerns.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Previous office experience; strong customer service skills with experience serving a wide customer base; acute attention to detail; experience with Texas Tech University student management and technology systems (Banner, Cognos, Sharepoint, Xtender, etc.) a plus; experience with and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Access and Excel)
