The Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a **_Research Assistant_** who will work with the Principal Investigator to provide support for complex data collection efforts and data analysis in on-going project on funding to private companies. This position utilizes intermediate-level research and programming skills to perform a variety of quantitative research activities including data collection, data processing, analysis of quantitative data, and data visualization. The ideal candidate will work well independently reporting to the Principal Investigator and completing assignments in a timely manner.
This position is grant-funded and is therefore limited in duration. Continued employment is contingent upon ongoing funding availability and programmatic need. The current grant period is expected to run through December 2025. Renewal or extension is not guaranteed.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
_Data Management_
+ Responsible for managing large and/or complex datasets.
+ Develops datasets by performing data cleaning, data validation, and data reporting.
+ Maintains detailed documentation of data management and programming codes.
+ Ensures the integrity and security of data.
_Data Analysis_
+ Uses advanced statistical and data programming skills to process, manage and analyze data (e.g., STATA).
+ Summarizes and interprets complex analyses.
+ Identifies, validates, extracts, and formats data for statistical analysis.
+ Creates complex charts, graphs, and tables to summarize analysis results.
+ Additional duties as assigned by the PI of the project.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Experience using business software systems in the completion of work assignments (i.e., Word Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Good in-person communication skills.
+ Strong quantitative, statistical, and data analysis skills.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience with finance-related datasets.
+ Self-starter with good time management, initiative, and professional work style.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree in Finance.
+ Minimum of 1-year related experience.
+ Programming skills in STATA.
+ Prior data management and analysis experience.
+ Prior experience working in scientific projects.
+ Experience working with data being actively collected or generated.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($36,563 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
