About the role:

This position is for an entry level field technician working for ALS Environmental out of the Rochester laboratory. We are looking for a full time, permanent addition, who works well in a team setting and an ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

+ Manage sampling events to collect groundwater, surface water, soil, and various other samples for laboratory analysis.

+ Perform work primarily under modified Level D safety protocols (street clothes plus safety glasses, nitrile gloves, and steel-toed boots).

+ **Daily work is conducted outdoors year-round; candidates must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions.**

+ Possess a detailed knowledge of applicable sampling methods, equipment, and techniques, including site-specific sampling protocols, groundwater remediation systems, regulatory guidelines, water chemistry, field analytical methods, OSHA safety regulations, stormwater management principles, groundwater geology, hydrology, limnology, project planning, and documentation requirements.

+ Interact professionally with clients and regulatory agency personnel.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

+ Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

+ Strong desire to work outdoors daily.

+ Ability to think quickly and adapt to changing conditions.

+ Must possess a clean driver’s license (no points) and be insurable.

+ Ability to pass a drug screening.

+ Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

+ **Willingness to travel overnight within New York State approximately three weeks per quarter (all travel expenses covered by ALS).**

Physical Demands:

+ Ability to speak and hear clearly when communicating with team members, management, and clients.

+ Regularly lift up to 50 lbs. (use of a dolly is permitted when needed).

+ Ability to sit, drive, and walk for the majority of an 8-hour day.

+ Ability to get in and out of vehicles frequently.

+ Hand and finger dexterity to operate vehicles, computers, and other equipment.

+ Normal vision sufficient to read reports and operate equipment and vehicles.
