Overview



Summary

Provides clinical support by preparing patients for and performing various non-invasive cardiology stress tests and post stress monitoring without direct physician supervision. Promote timely and quality departmental operations by assisting staff and interdepartmental communication. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

? Review patient chart to ensure that patient orders are accurate. ? Obtain appropriate clinical information from EMR as well as a verbal PMH with patient and document on appropriate worksheet. ? Maintain and complete data accurately, appropriately and timely on all forms and for all data entry related to patient testing. ? Provides safe and effective management of patients according to unit procedure. This includes but is not limited to proper patient identification, placement of patients in appropriate procedure room, and recognize and report abnormal patient data to appropriate licensed personnel accurately and promptly. ? Performs EKGs, Manual Blood Pressure Readings, Stress test, and post stress monitoring in a manner that ensures accurate and complete examination by complying with established procedures and policies without direct physician supervision. ? Responsible for staying up to date on new guidelines regarding testing. ? Responsible for training all new hire treadmill technicians. ? Completes assigned goals.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Experience Description

Minimum Required: 12months EKG experience.

Education Description

Minimum: High school diploma/GED, OR equivalent experience as required by the position.

Preferred: ? Degree in Exercise Physiology.

Training Description

Minimum: 1-year experience in a cardiac stress lab Preferred: Experience in cardiopulmonary function test and/or Pulmonary Function Test Competency in all departmental studies to include:

Special Skills Description

Minimum Required: Advanced knowledge of EKG rhythms validated by passing and maintaining Certified Cardiographic Technician certification through CCI or the Certified EKG Technician certification through the National Healthcare Association. Ability to assess patients clinically and perform non-invasive stress tests without direct physician supervision.
