CoreCivic is currently seeking a **Qualified Manager, BSIS (Bureau of Security Investigative Services)** who has a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional security setting.
The Qualified Manager, BSIS is responsible for providing training program oversight and monitoring of all Bureau of Security Investigative Services (BSIS) mandated training and certification. Oversees compliance with applicable contracts, policies, procedures, regulations and standards related to firearms training activities. Identifies potential training needs, conducts training activities, and maintains appropriate documentation and learning management system data as required. Manages the expiration and re-qualification dates of firearms and guard permits to ensure compliance and maintain continuity of related facility operations.
+ Tracks future firearms range qualification times/dates for each staff member per BSIS guidelines. Monitors and adjusts range qualification dates (due to facility needs, PTO, FMLA, etc.) to ensure no lapses occur as to render permits deficient during renewal time.
+ Projects and schedules "live scan" appointments for new applicants.
+ Maintains inventory and coordinates the purchase of ammunition through local vendor for range qualifications. Coordinates the purchases and manages firearms equipment (i.e. targets, training rounds, holsters etc.) and training needs for range training and qualification in accordance with company policy and BSIS regulations.
+ Reviews and certifies permit applications to ensure accuracy of information and fees required. Submits applications to BSIS for processing.
+ Projects, coordinates and schedules times/dates with local firearms ranges for firearms qualifications.
+ Approves/disapproves range qualifications in accordance with CA BSIS requirements.
+ Maintains communication with CA BSIS Administrators, and provides up to date changes and revisions of laws related to guard and firearm licenses to staff. Conducts follow-up communication on firearm and guard permit status with BSIS and additional requirements if needed.
+ Coordinates with the Business Manager to ensure that California required license requirements for the facility are up to date with the state. Coordinates with the Business Manager on additional changes to uniform or business requirements.
+ Serves as the primary point of contact for all new CA state firearms instructors for the facility. Responsible for generating documentation and training of new staff when designated to the facility license as Firearms Instructors.
+ Domestic U.S. travel may be required.
Qualifications:
+ HighSchool diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
+ Four years of experience in weapons training(classroom instruction, curriculum development, and reality-based training) isrequired.
+ Additionalcorrectional/detention or training experience may be substituted on ayear-for-year basis.
+ Current California Bureau of Security InvestigativeServices (BSIS) Private Patrol Operator Qualified Manager Certificate is required.
+ Must demonstrate a knowledge of California Bureau ofSecurity Investigative Services (BSIS) regulations and standards.
+ Training for Trainers/Presentation skillscertification is preferred.
+ Certificationin Chemical Agents, PPCT, Firearms, and SORT is preferred.
+ Maybe required to obtain additional certifications to fulfill contract required.
+ MinimumAge Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
