SUMMARY
Promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident-free and healthy work environment. Coordinates activities required to promote safety by performing the following duties here and at EJ Pattern Shop.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization.
+ Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.
+ Supports and promotes the commitment of EJ to employee Safety & Health and is a champion for EJ Safety Beliefs.
+ Lead the industrial hygiene program to ensure compliance with regulations.
+ Help to develop and implement safer material handling procedures.
+ Assists in the management, maintenance, and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs, compliance plans and initiatives.
+ Work closely with Corporate EHS personnel on corporate initiatives that affect EJ Foundry.
+ Provides subject matter expertise in EH&S related matters.
+ Supervise programs/projects, etc. as requested.
+ Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impacts the organization.
+ Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors and employees.
+ Lead multi-group engineering projects to improve EH&S.
+ Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.
+ Confers with all levels of the local organization to resolve problems. Monitor and measure operational improvements, as well as condition of machines and equipment, and procedures updates as needed.
+ Rotates shifts if/when necessary.
+ Collect, analyzes and interprets data and prepares associated reports as needed and can present the findings in a professional environment to various groups in the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the ability to successfully pass the respirator testing protocol and wear a respirator as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in a related discipline from four-year college or university; and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education:
+ Certification such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist
+ Experience with interpreting Safety and Environmental State and Federal Regulations to help develop polices and procedures.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
+ Ability to speak effectively to groups both internal and external to the organization.
+ Preferred candidate should be proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word and Power Point).
+ OSHA 10 and 30-hour course completion, basic first aid and CPR training would be beneficial to position.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to be self-motivated and able to accomplish tasks and requirements with minimal oversight.
