Description
The Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications (ALEC), College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, non-tenure faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning August 1, 2025. This position is for one academic year term with the opportunity for renewal. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Visiting Lecturer in applied youth development.
The successful candidate will:
+ Teach up to 24 credit-hours per academic year in Applied Youth Development (AYD)
+ Consult with developmental scientists, youth organization managers, direct providers of youth services, and instructional design specialists to provide engaging learning experiences on cutting-edge content.
+ Contribute to University, College, and Department service and outreach.
The AYD program serves approximately 60 undergraduate minors and 30 graduate students in its Master of Applied Youth Development program. The website (https://alec.tamu.edu/) provides extensive information about the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications.
Qualifications
+ A completed masters or doctoral degree in developmental science, human development, or educational psychology. Applications from individuals with backgrounds in sport science, sport management, park and recreation management, extension education, or a closely related discipline will be considered if the applicant demonstrates substantial studies in developmental science or youth development.
+ Applicants must have academic history addressing the many cultural, ethnic, sociological, and psychological contexts in which youth learn, grow, and develop.
+ Applicants must demonstrate a history of successful teaching in higher education.
+ Applicants must have experience in the youth development industry through direct service provision, administration/management of youth-serving organizations, or youth policy.
