Description We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our team in Alexandria, Virginia. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. This is a long-term contract position in the higher education industry, offering an opportunity to enhance your expertise in accounting systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Process, review, and accurately code invoices on a weekly basis to ensure timely payments.

• Generate monthly accounts payable reports and assist with the preparation of 1099 forms.

• Manage accounts receivable functions, including billing and payment tracking.

• Collaborate with the team to maintain accurate financial records and reconcile discrepancies.

• Utilize accounting software systems and ERP tools to streamline accounting operations.

• Conduct audits to verify financial data and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

• Support billing functions by preparing and verifying invoices for clients.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and workflows.

• Provide assistance during financial reviews and reporting cycles.

• Ensure adherence to financial regulations and best practices in all accounting tasks. Requirements • Proficiency in accounting software systems and ERP tools.

• Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

• Experience with preparing 1099 forms and generating financial reports.

• Familiarity with auditing principles and practices.

• Knowledge of billing functions and financial reconciliation.

• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in financial data.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

• Previous experience with Financial Edge is a plus.
