Description:
The primary role of the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician is to continuously improve the reliability, efficiency, and utilization of plant equipment and manufacturing processes. This is accomplished by utilizing mechanical and electrical expertise in the precise installation, maintenance, and repair of plant systems and equipment followed by concise and accurate documentation of all activities and observations. The Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician works closely with all plant personnel to support improved equipment and process reliability as well as efficient and cost-effective use of plant resources. This position is a key member of a cross functional team that supports the improvement of asset reliability.
Job Duties:
1. Apply industrial maintenance skills and knowledge to install, maintain, and repair plant systems and equipment.
For example, the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician will maintain and share expert knowledge of maintenance and operation methods for manufacturing equipment. He/she will utilize training, technical expertise, and reliability methods to troubleshoot and formulate solutions to asset and process related deficiencies. The incumbent must be capable of disassembly and reassembly of equipment in order to repair, replace, adjust, clean, lubricate and align equipment components. This position would be considered the area lead for troubleshooting, maintaining and mentoring other maintenance technicians.
2. Initiate and perform condition monitoring tasks including preventive and predictive maintenance.
For example, the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician utilizes condition monitoring technologies (such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, etc.) to support the continued improvement of plant equipment reliability. He / she evaluates and recommends detailed instructions required to perform the condition monitoring tasks. The incumbent then summarizes the data collected and makes recommendations for equipment and process improvement based on the data collected.
3. Troubleshoot equipment failures to ascertain possible failure modes and participate with operations, plant engineering, suppliers, and other associates to improve equipment reliability.
For example, the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician confers with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates equipment operation to diagnose malfunctions. He / she uses industrial maintenance expertise, analytical troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis to recommend and implement corrective system improvements. This will include the examination of parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear.
4. Utilize the company’s Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) and supports its use as a key management information tool.
For example, the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician will initiate detailed work requests to troubleshoot, repair, and modify plant equipment and then document all repairs and maintenance performed.
5. Recommend, develop, and implement system modifications to improve equipment operations and provide for attainment of plant and department goals.
For example, the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician continuously reviews each existing preventive maintenance task. He/she recommends additions, improvements, changes to the frequency of, or deletion of task instructions as needed to increase the overall effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program. This will include drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other maintenance procedures.
6. Provide direction and training for less skilled maintenance personnel and machine operators.
For example, the Plant Engineering Maintenance Technician 10M will teach and lead less trained technicians and operators in the operation, proactive maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
Qualifications:
Successful maintenance applicants will have welding ability, extensive maintenance experience with food processing equipment, working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the ability to troubleshoot. A solid background in mechanical and electrical systems as well as training in maintenance reliability is crucial to the success of the industrial maintenance technician. This position requires excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to read and work from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and control schematics. Must have the ability to learn and effectively use various software programs including the company’s Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS). A combination of experience and/or training at an accredited technical school will be given consideration.
Minimum Requirements:
+ 2 -3 years of Industrial Food manufacturing experience or a combination of experience and accredited technical training certificates or an associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance.
+ Must be willing to work overtime and weekends.
+ Must be willing to work holidays if scheduled.
+ Must be authorized to work in the United States.
+ Must we willing to train new maintenance team members.
+ Other duties assigned by management.
