    Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

    Job Description

    Equipment Operators will operate various types of cranes and shears to process scrap materials, load and unload scrap from trucks or railcars, and move scrap within the yard as required.

    Responsibilities

    + Follow all yard-specific safety, environmental, and routine procedures.

    + Inspect and document the condition of mobile shear, magnet crane, and stationary shear daily.

    + Perform daily maintenance on equipment, including lubrication, greasing, fueling, and cleaning the cab.

    + Check scrap for proper grade and safety concerns like tanks and cylinders while shearing.

    + Shear unprepared material to the required size, thickness, and dimensions.

    + Use the magnet crane to load and unload scrap from customer vehicles into designated piles or railcars for shipping.

    + Operate mobile equipment to move scrap around the yard.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in crane operation

    + Experience with heavy equipment operation

    + General labor skills

    + Ability to operate equipment such as backhoe, loader, dozer, forklift, skid steer, front end loader, track hoe, excavation, trenching, and reach truck

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Assist with yard housekeeping and other assigned tasks.

    + Support co-workers with daily operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and profitability.

    + Provide input and help solve problems as needed.

    Work Environment

     

    The position involves working outdoors in a scrap yard, which can be a dirty environment. The shift is from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. Scales are shut down from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM for lunch.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, North Dakota.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $24.47 - $24.47/hr.
