    CAPS Associate/Clinical Director

    Position Summary

    Michigan State University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Director of Integrated Clinical Mental Health Services for the Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) unit. This key leadership role will oversee and supervise a multidisciplinary team, including doctoral psychologists, psychiatrists, Master level social workers, and master’s level counselors. The Associate Director will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a seamless operation of integrated mental health services that combines both psychiatric and psychological care to enhance the well-being of the university's diverse student population.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Leadership and Supervision:

    + Provide direct supervision and support to doctoral psychologists, psychiatrists, Master level social workers, and masters level counselors.

    + Conduct regular team meetings and ensure effective communication within the multidisciplinary team.

    + Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages professional development and continuous improvement.

    + Clinical Oversight and Integration:

    + Oversee the integration of psychiatric and psychological services to provide comprehensive and holistic mental health care.

    + Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and procedures to ensure high-quality and evidence-based care.

    + Work within current EMRs, Athena and Titanium

    + Collaborate with the CAPS Director to identify and address service gaps and implement strategies to enhance service delivery.

    + Program Development and Evaluation:

    + Lead the development and evaluation of integrated clinical programs and initiatives aimed at improving student mental health outcomes.

    + Utilize data and feedback to assess the effectiveness of services and make informed recommendations for improvement.

    + Stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in mental health care to inform clinical program development.

    + Direct Clinical Services:

    + Provide direct clinical services, including individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management as needed.

    + Maintain a limited caseload of students to stay connected with the clinical work and ensure a deep understanding of student needs.

    + Training and Education:

    + Coordinate and provide training and supervision for clinical staff, interns, and trainees.

    + Oversight of clinical training initiatives

    + Oversight of HCA/HCR team

    Minimum Requirements

    + Masters or Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.), Psychiatry, Social Work, Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

    + Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Michigan as a psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker or counselor.

    + Five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in counseling, consultation, outreach, preventive education in university counseling center settings.

    Desired Qualifications

    + Experience:

    + Minimum of 5 years of post-licensure clinical experience in a mental health setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

    + Demonstrated experience in integrating psychiatric and psychological services within a clinical setting.

    + Experience working in a university or college counseling center is highly desirable.

    + Skills and Abilities:

    + Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

    + Excellent clinical skills and a deep understanding of evidence-based mental health practices.

    + Ability to develop and implement effective clinical programs and initiatives.

    + Ability to understand and work seamlessly within current medical records: Athena and Titanium

    + Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
