Position Information
We are seeking a Custodian, under supervision, to provide daily, general cleaning services to the Vernon AgriLife Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Performs tasks to clean and maintain the general appearance of assigned buildings, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleans/polishes metal hardware, spot cleans carpet as needed, stripping, waxing and buffing floors.
+ Dust, disinfect, wash and clean walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, offices, common areas, restrooms, breakroom and meeting spaces.
+ Collects and disposes of trash daily.
+ Sets up the auditorium and/or conference rooms for meetings (i.e., furniture arrangement, extra chairs, etc.).
+ Operate mechanical, electrical and battery-operated machines to aid in performing custodial cleaning duties.
+ Check the interior and exterior lights weekly, clean and replace as needed. Report electrical problems to the maintenance foreman for repair.
+ Exterior window cleaning, sweeping sidewalks and building entrances
+ Assist with maintenance of Center grounds as requested by maintenance foreman and/or business administrator.
+ Assist with building maintenance as requested.
+ Maintain inventory and order janitorial supplies as needed.
+ Performs other job-related duties as required, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
+ Monitors and reports property damage, and vandalism to business administrator.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year of related experience.
Ability to use a computer. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
What You Need to Know
Salary: This is a non-exempt hourly paid position. Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
