Our team focuses on optimizing the customer experience on Amazon.com primarily through content recommendation and related optimizations for the customer. We operate a central service for ranking and optimization decisions as well as the backend infrastructure and algorithms to support these decisions. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, leading strategically important and technically complex initiatives across multiple organizations to improve our ability to provide the right content to the right customer at the right time.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. TPM, you will work in a highly collaborative team of engineers and scientists and lead the technical program management for key strategic goals. You will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance customer and business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to assimilate a large number of inputs from stakeholders, develop cohesive designs and functional specs, prioritize and deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. You will clearly communicate goals, requirements, roadmaps, and timelines to internal and external cross-functional teams. You are entrepreneurial, innovative, and thrive on solving complex problems. Maturity, sound business and technical judgement, negotiation skills, ability to influence, and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and will develop a deep understanding of the system architecture. You will have a consistent record of ownership of complex projects and demonstrated the ability to earn the trust of your partners. Your technical expertise and operational excellence will raise the bar and influence the team’s decisions.

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 3+ years of software development experience

- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
