    + Introduction

     

    The State of Connecticut (https://portal.ct.gov/) , Department of Energy and Environmental Protection ( DEEP (https://portal.ct.gov/deep) ) has an exciting opportunity for Seasonal Resource Assistants (https://www.jobapscloud.com/CT/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=3492VR&R1=undefined&R3=undefined) to work with the Bureau of Air Management, Planning and Standards, Field Monitoring Group in Windsor, Connecticut. These positions will provide assistance to t he field monitoring group that is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the state's ambient air quality monitoring

     

    network. This network provides scientifically valid data on air pollutant levels in Connecticut. This data informs policy on both the state and national level.

    Position highlights

    Duties include performing work related but not limited to:

    + Assist in data review of field sheets used for air quality monitoring (QA/QC);

    + Assist in tracking spare parts and equipment used in air quality monitoring efforts;

    + Transport filters used in particulate sampling to and from monitoring sites;

    + Assist in maintaining air quality analyzers and related equipment;

    + Assist with field calibration and audit efforts;

    + Assist in air quality analyzer installation and maintenance;

     

    These positions are up to 35 hours per week and lasting no longer than 1 year or a total of 1,040 hours in duration.

    + If selected for interview, applicants will be contacted by the divisions hiring supervisor anticipated for Spring/Summer of 2025.

    + Employment is contingent upon completion of a background check, which includes a review of employment, criminal and motor vehicle.

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection as a limited duration employee, performs one or more of a variety of tasks and assigned duties of a seasonal nature.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

    Ability to follow instructions.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Some experience utilizing computer software;

    + Some experience utilizing MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams);

    + Some experience summarizing information and preparing reports;

    + Some experience with installing, servicing, repairing or maintaining any

    + type of electronic equipment.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    + Incumbents in this class who are assigned as supervisors of small recreational units will perform emergency first aid as needed and will be required to obtain and retain a Basic First Aid Certificate.

    + Incumbents in this class may be required for certain positions to meet any of the following:

    + Proof of possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license.

    + Possession of a valid license to apply pesticides.

    + College training in a specific field.

    + Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification may be required by specific state facilities.

    + Incumbents performing lifeguard services must have and retain an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification (includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid). An EMT or MRT certification may be substituted for the CPR and First Aid requirements.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    + Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class.

    + Incumbents performing lifeguard services must be able to demonstrate American Red Cross (ARC) waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
