Job Description:
A Brief OverviewPerforms duties and tasks related to surgery, digestive health and out of department scheduling. Maintains and audits surgical and digestive health billing process. Performs preliminary billing duties for Surgical Services. Proficient in all areas of the scheduling and billing department. Performs secretarial duties and tasks related to department specific needs. Performs duties and tasks related to Digestive Health registration. Performs scheduling and billing duties to the following patient populations: Patient of any age undergoing surgical procedures in the following specialties: Dental/Oral, ENT, Gastroenterology, General, OB/Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Podiatry, Spine, Urology and Vascular.What you will do
+ Performs preliminary billing functions for Surgical Services.
+ Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.
+ Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages.
+ Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
+ Schedules cases for Surgical Services.
+ Arrange appointments.
+ Ensure Preauthorization has been completed
+ Perform Insurance Eligibility checks on all patients
+ Registers patients for procedures and print credentials
+ Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
+ H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
+ Computer experience Preferred
+ Previous scheduling and billing experience Preferred
+ Medical terminology and anatomy and physiology classes Preferred
+ + Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
+ Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
+ Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
+ Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
+ Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
+ Talking to others to convey information effectively.
+ Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

+ The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
