SUMMARY
The primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a strong partnership with the health system client. This involves regular communication to understand their specific needs and requirements. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician Liaison also plays a crucial role in supporting the on-site Pharmacy Team. This includes and not limited to assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications, providing customer service, and ensuring accuracy and adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Facilitating Communication: Act as a point of contact for healthcare providers and patients, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding medication orders, refills, and treatment plans.
+ Coordinating Care: Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care, including scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations, and arranging for medication delivery or pickup.
+ Ensuring Compliance: Verify insurance coverage, assist with prior authorization processes, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to specialty medications.
+ Resolving Issues: Address any issues or concerns that arise during the course of treatment, such as medication side effects, insurance coverage disputes, or difficulties with medication access.
+ Maintaining Records: Keep detailed records of patient interactions, medication orders, and insurance communications to ensure accurate and thorough documentation.
+ Supporting Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care provided by the specialty pharmacy.
+ Pharmacy Technician Duties: Responsible for functioning as a Pharmacy Technician during the absences of the Pharmacy Technicians.
+ Undertake additional tasks as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School diploma or GED
+ At least 1 year experience working as a Pharmacy Technician; or in a Medical Office; or within the Healthcare industry.
+ Must be willing to obtain IL & MO State Pharmacy Technician license within 90 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Active Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT): PTCB or ExCPT certifications accepted.
+ At least 3 years' experience working within a specialty pharmacy environment.
+ Experience submitting prior authorizations.
+ Experience interacting with patients recently prescribed specialty therapies.
+ Experience utilizing clinical patient management software (i.e., patient enrollment, scheduling, etc.)
+ Experience in a specialty pharmacy accredited environment (i.e. URAC/ACHC).
+ Experience interacting with provider groups, communicating status updates and ensuring patient experience.
+ Experience with the 340B program.

+ Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively liaise with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
+ Demonstrates empathy and understanding in resolving customer service matters.
+ Extremely detail oriented and able to multi-task.
+ Proficiency in using relevant software and systems for submitting and documenting prior authorizations for specialty medications.
+ Strong, comprehensive knowledge of benefits investigation procedures and criteria.
+ Skilled in engaging with provider groups, maintaining clear communication regarding patient status, and prioritizing an excellent patient experience.
+ Understanding of REMS programs relevant to specialty pharmaceutical products.
+ Understands the Limited distribution process for specialty pharmaceutical products.
+ Ability to interact and communicate with people over the phone.
+ Capacity to work independently.
+ Basic data entry and/or work processing skills.
+ Ability to verify data input and correct errors.
+ Reads and accurately interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
+ Performs mathematics operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
+ Calculates rates, ratios, and percentages accurately.
+ Utilizes logical reasoning and comprehension to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
