A candidate who takes pride in maintaining complete confidentiality to act as a payroll specialist that will supports our overall payroll process will be strongly considered for this role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer and payroll systems and will be known for their accuracy and ability to be trusted with sensitive and confidential information. They will have excellent communication skills and will interact in a team environment at all levels of the organization up through the executive level. This position will work directly with our payroll and office manager and help with various back-office accounting and administration responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
+ The main responsibility of this role is to assist with the weekly processing of payroll to ensure on time and accurate payroll.
+ Lead the garnishment setup and disbursement process
+ Process taxes and payment of employee benefits
+ Primarily responsible for applying cash payments
+ Maintain accurate records of payments made to employees
+ Responsible for the maintenance and oversight of the time keeping system
+ Will be seen as the lead person in setting up individuals to report time in our time keeping system
+ Liaise with the Human Resources Department and accounting department to ensure accurate information for payment
+ Utilize computer software for data entry and accounts management
+ File relevant reports and documents as needed
+ Verify employee records and consult departments in the event of a discrepancy
+ Alter tax status of employees where required
+ Cell phone bill audit and reconciliation
+ Working in the capacity of secondary support for manual check processing when necessary
Supervisory /Budgetary / External Communication Responsibility
+ This is an individual contributing role
+ Primarily will be internally focused on communication but from time to time may have to communicate externally.
Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements (minimum competencies required for job performance)
+ Analytical skills: collect, gather, visualize, and interpret information
+ Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
+ Knowledge of legislation and regulations of the payroll field
+ Experience with benefits administration is preferred but not mandatory
+ Strong knowledge of payroll software and ATS and Onboarding applications
+ Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
+ Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
+ Excellent communication skills
Prior work experience and educational requirements
+ Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
+ 5+ Years of Payroll experience with automated payroll systems. UltiPro knowledge is a plus
+ Strong knowledge of computer systems/PCs, and familiarization with systems, reports, and procedures.
+ Advanced Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Access
+ Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional designation is preferred.
