Hiring Pay Rate
The salary range listed represents a broad salary range for this position. It is anticipated that this position will begin at $4,154.00 per month, depending upon internal equity, experience, education, and training. Position will receive shift differential, on-call and call-back pay for all applicable hours.

Note: Standard hours for this position will be Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., at the Colorado Community College System and may be required to work other shifts to meet the needs of the department. This position is eligible for shift differential, on-call, and call-back pay for all applicable hours worked. This position may be required to work rotating on-call shifts. The current on-call rate of pay is $5 per hour.

Description of Job
The purpose of this position is to provide a safe environment through preventative maintenance throughout the college facilities. This position maintains and repairs building equipment, and building systems including but not limited to plumbing, painting, general carpentry, basic HVAC and electrical. Position provides a safe environment through preventative maintenance facilities support to the college by performing structural maintenance and providing plumbing and electrical assistance. Position rotates on-call responsibilities with other positions in the department for after hours emergencies.
This position performs general construction, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmithing, and overall campus maintenance. Troubleshoots and identifies maintenance needs, as well as performs proactive repairs to prevent breakdowns. Position installs, maintains and repairs water heaters, as well as fixtures like sinks and toilets, using hand or power tools. The position also involves interior and exterior painting of offices, hallways, and buildings, Additional responsibilities include installing, repairing, or replacing various types of locking mechanisms on interior and exterior doors, and cutting new or duplicate keys using key-cutting machines. This position also performs minor automotive maintenance, such as oil changes and fluid checks, on daily-use maintenance vehicles.
Position follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. Maintains knowledge in using personal safety equipment. Responds to on-call emergency needs. Provides access for subcontractors as needed. Position attends staff trainings and safety meetings. Utilizes b asic computer skills to operate computer complete work orders, respond to emails, and complete timesheets and leave requests. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Four (4) years of experience in the structural trades (building maintenance trades including carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical maintenance) including technical experience repairing, performing maintenance, installing, modifying, calibrating, certifying, or fabricating electronic equipment and devices. Application must list specific experience related to this position. Must possess excellent customer service skills to include communicating with and responding to all levels of employees in a professional environment. Do not use "see resume" statements on application. Your application must be completed in its entirety describing your experience in order to be considered. (Part-time experience will be pro-rated)
OR
Education and Experience:
Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level course work from an accredited institution, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school, construction technology or property maintenance may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. A copy of your transcripts must be submitted with your application prior to the application deadline in order to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Commercial or residential e xperience with a variety of trades, i.e., plumbing, painting, locksmithing, HVAC, electrical, etc. Strong attention to detail, pl anning and organizing skills. Well rounded individual able to switch from one trade to another with ease. Ability to multitask and be a self-starter.
Conditions of Employment:
Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, attend meetings, etc. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions, it is your responsibility to provide CCCS Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges. Position is required to be on-call in rotation to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption. Must be willing and able to work before or after normal business hours as needed to meet the needs of CCCS. An essential function of this position requires exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects (i.e. lifting trash, pushing cleaning equipment, moving furniture, etc.). It also requires constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching. Successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions on labels, machinery and in manuals, etc.
