Job Description
Senior Cook – Lead the Kitchen, Serve with Heart
_Bringing skill, leadership, and flavor to every shift._
About the Role:
Ready to take your cooking game to the next level? As a **Senior Cook** , you’ll not only prepare delicious, high-quality meals for patients, staff, and special events — you’ll also take charge, guiding other cooks to keep the kitchen running smoothly and efficiently.
Whether you're crafting meals from standardized recipes, coordinating prep for large batches, or stepping in to support special functions, your leadership in the kitchen helps us deliver nourishment with care and consistency.
What You’ll Be Doing:
+ Prepare meals based on menus, production sheets, and standardized recipes for:
+ Patients
+ Cafeteria patrons
+ Physicians and medical staff
+ Special functions and events
+ Supervise, mentor, and guide other kitchen staff to ensure quality and timeliness.
+ Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation.
+ Operate large commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment — following food safety guidelines at all times.
+ Step in to problem-solve and keep production flowing during peak times.
What You Bring:
+ **High school diploma or GED** (required for employees hired on or after May 1, 2006).
+ A **current Food Handler’s Permit** from Kansas City, MO, Independence, Jackson County, or Clay County — or willingness to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
+ **At least two years** of experience preparing large quantities of food using standardized recipes.
+ Strong leadership skills with the ability to **direct and support a team** in a high-volume setting.
+ Clear verbal and written communication skills — you’ll be giving direction and working with others closely.
+ Physical stamina to bend, twist, push, and lift large containers of hot food in a busy kitchen environment.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
+ You’ll take the lead in creating meals that nourish and comfort patients and staff alike.
+ You’ll work in a collaborative kitchen environment where your skills are valued and your leadership matters.
+ You’ll gain opportunities to grow your career in food service and healthcare hospitality.
+ Every day, you’ll make a difference — one tray, one plate, one team effort at a time.
Ready to step into the kitchen and lead with confidence and care?
Apply today and bring your talent to a team where food is more than fuel — it’s part of healing.
