This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D0802000 and is part of the PA 171st Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Responsibilities As AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8268-09, you will plan and schedules specific work assignments on a daily or project-by-project basis within specified time requirements. Assign tasks to be performed. Recommend individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Perform the non-supervisory functions of the organizational segment supervised. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, applicant must indicate experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provides knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. Technicians eligible for re-promotion will be considered prior to using competitive promotion procedures, except when another technician has a statutory or regulatory right to be placed in or considered for the position. They shall not be eligible for retirement contributions, participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, or a supplemental or redetermined annuity for the employment period.
