SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the management of the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Generation portfolio. Under limited supervision, assists with project basics (scope, schedule, budget), transitions projects to the execution Project Manager, and updates the annual business plan with project spend profiles in order to secure funding for project execution. The position requires work on a diverse array of T&D or technology projects that includes transmission lines, substations, distribution lines, underground lines, protection and controls, networks, and buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with the creation of new and maintenance of active project schedules for all phases of the project and performs benchmarking as a method to understand current performance and act upon results.
Responsible for maintaining the capital project program schedule and makes recommendations to the project team to resolve schedule and project cost issues.
Verify and perform quality control procedures.
Supporting projects Facilitation for project teams, leading control meetings and chartering/planning sessions for medium to large projects that have significant value and may be very complex in nature.
Manages the O&M budget process for several departments and assists with the management of the capital budget for NM Operations.
Prepares weekly/monthly capital spend/clearings reports for NM Ops Engineers, PMs and Management and prepares budget analysis reports for interrogatory responses for Rate Case.
Prepares and edits scope of work, contract terms, requirements, and professional services agreements.
Reviews contract estimate to actuals and prepares reports for NM Ops Engineers, PMs, and Management.
Assist with reviewing project budget requests and routing/tracking CAP forms for management approval and assists in providing budget spend and reporting for NMPRC Rule 17.5.440 as it applies to projects.
Assist project managers with tracking the project physical percent complete of large capital projects using the project management method.
Provides project cost analysis to PMs to support the creation of new contracts, amendments and/or extensions.
Coordinates project budget timeline, unforeseen variances, timely milestone payments, and processing of RFAFs if needed, with Engineers and PMs.
Serves as a key liaison and partner with corporate Finance and Budget teams during reforecasts, AOP and variance reporting.
Documents work processes and standard work instructions for capital projects for PowerPlan reports, project reporting, and accruals used during the Project Management Overview training.
Coordinate, present, and facilitate project forecasting meetings.
Implement administrative controls and assign users of new accounting software.
Monitor project health and performance using project monitoring measures.
Update the annual business plan with project spend profiles to secure funding for project execution.
Document quarterly financial capital forecasts and annual operating plans.
Create monthly financial briefings for C-Suite leadership.
Hold weekly meetings with PNM consultants to develop strategic planning for financial tracking and decision-making.
Review, edit, and submit capital development approval process documents for budget submission and financial audit records.

Works effectively and positively with peers, field personnel, engineers, managers, directors, VP level and Finance business partners, maintaining and building the relationships.
Organizes, leads, and actively participates in meeting with stakeholders external to NM Ops.
Utilizes sound project management methodologies including schedules, milestones and tracking reports.
Demonstrates sensitivity to regulatory requirements and political factors. Trusted to keep information confidential when necessary.
Strong working knowledge of utility and PNM-specific finance and accounting principles.
Outstanding skills with PNM financial systems including PowerPlant and retrieving data from the General Ledger.
Proficient in advanced computer skills, including proficiency in new accounting software, with minimal guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with three to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Strong oral communications with the ability to interpret nonverbal communications. Communicates with clarity and concision in 1-on-1 and written communications.
Strong presentation skills and is comfortable and confident presenting to all levels of management.
Ability to motivate others with strong communications skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency in the MS software with exceptional strength in Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables.
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit up to 2/3 of the time and to stand, walk, and stoop up to 1/3 of the time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
