Calty Design Research, Inc. is part of Toyota's global design network and contributes innovative design concepts for a diverse vehicle and mobility lineup. Calty's primary goal is to research market trends and create innovative vehicle and mobility designs that reflect US tastes as well as other global markets. We participate in a variety of project activities, including experimental concepts, advanced, competition and production design for the Toyota and Lexus brands. These design solutions are often shared and developed in collaboration with other Toyota design, planning, engineering and manufacturing groups in Japan and the US. We are currently seeking a talented CMF Designer for our Advanced Design Studio located in Newport Beach, California.

Primary responsibilities include:

+ Researching and analyzing current and emerging trends in CMF;

+ Utilizing trend research to aid in creating CMF design proposals;

+ Working closely with the automotive exterior, interior, and UX designers to support the development of concept and advanced design.

Ideal candidate will possess:

+ A Bachelor's in Industrial, Transportation or Product Design, or a similar discipline;

+ 2+ years of professional CMF design experience;

+ Excellent storytelling, visual communication, and analytic skills;

+ Demonstrated skills in time management, organization, planning, visualization, and working in a team-oriented environment required;

+ Proficiency in Blender, VRED, Figma in addition to the usual MS Office suite and illustration/ rendering software;

+ Candidate must possess excellent color acuity.

The annual base rate for this position is $65,000-$85,000.
