Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
We are seeking an innovative Legal Operations Director to optimize the Legal Team's processes and workflows for efficiency and effectiveness. Your responsibilities will include overseeing implementation and maintenance of legal technology tools and systems, leveraging technology to improve productivity, and driving contract management and contact excellence processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve coordination and communication between the legal department and other business units. Additionally, you will manage the legal department budget, track expenses, and oversee outside counsel and other legal service providers. This role offers the unique opportunity to build and manage the legal operations of a newly formed media company.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Develop a long-term roadmap to grow legal operations and improve overall Legal team effectiveness
+ Define and maintain a legal technology roadmap, emphasizing AI-driven platforms and automation tools to optimize legal workflows with IT
+ Evaluate, implement, and manage legal technology solutions (e.g., matter management, contract management, document management systems)
+ Oversee litigation support operations, including e-discovery tools and workflows
+ Promote process optimization across contract lifecycle management, litigation, IP, entity management, and knowledge management
+ Oversee legal project management, resource allocation, and internal team workflows to ensure priorities are implemented
+ Assist in the development and management of the department's budget and manage Legal budget forecasting, tracking, and reporting with Finance
+ Build and manage an outside counsel and legal vendor management program that ensures high-quality support at efficient cost, including monitoring spend data to find opportunities for savings and to support decision-making
+ Oversee relationships with outside counsel and other legal service providers
+ Negotiate terms and rates with vendors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness
+ Collaborate with other departments, such as Finance, IT, and HR, to ensure cohesive support for legal operations
+ Use data analytics to evaluate team performance, vendor metrics, and operational measurements, and develop and maintain dashboards and other reporting tools
+ Develop a centralized knowledge management framework for contracts, policies, templates, and institutional knowledge
+ Promote consistency and standardization across global legal documentation and practices
Basic Requirements:
+ 8+ years in legal operations or related roles, emphasizing legal technology, AI implementation, and operational automation within a corporate legal environment
+ Proven experience in identifying, implementing, and managing AI-based solutions and legal technology applications (e.g., CLM, e-billing, compliance)
+ Experience with outside counsel management and billing
+ Experience with budget creation
+ Experience with data analytics and reporting
+ Strong project management, communication, and analytical skills to effectively drive adoption of technology solutions
+ Ability to build consensus and collaboratively implement new technologies across teams

+ Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
+ This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
