This leader will be responsible for executing the Hospitalist Medicine business strategy and operational performance of physicians and advance practice practitioners with BJC Medical Group. The expressed goals are to provide a patient care model that results in high quality patient outcomes, improves patient experience, and lowers the total cost of care. This position is responsible for providing leadership, planning, and organization of financial and operational priorities for the Hospitalist Medicine program.

The Operations Department provides support to the strategic and operational objectives of BJC Medical Group practices and is located in Town & Country.

Role Purpose
Responsible for executing the Hospitalist Medicine business strategy and operational performance of physicians and advance practice practitioners. The expressed goals are to provide a patient care model that results in high quality patient outcomes, improves patient experience, and lowers the total cost of care. This position is responsible for providing leadership, planning, and organization of financial and operational priorities for the Hospitalist Medicine program. The incumbent will have a dyad relationship with the Physician Medical Director of Hospital Medicine, who together will be responsible for achieving key performance metrics, including monitoring and reporting related to high quality patient care and financial stewardship within multiple BJC Hospitals across Missouri and Illinois.
Responsibilities
+ Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
+ Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
+ Provides overall strategic leadership of Hospitalist Medicine (HM) program operational services. Directs Hospitalist administrative leaders in ensuring that program is meeting all patient care needs, achieving all operational goals and monitoring the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care. Ensures consistent implementation of defined best practices across all hospital locations.
+ Collaborates with Medical Group, Hospital leadership and on-site HM leadership dyads to establish and operationalize key priorities, performance metrics, policies and procedures of a patient care model that delivers high quality patient outcomes and patient experiences. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with hospital based physicians and advance practice practitioners to achieve goals and strategic initiatives. Supports and coordinates a process to promote exceptional clinical outcomes while ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
+ Monitors and analyzes program financial performance, identifying opportunities to enhance income from development and revenue sources, as well as implementing best practices to promote, schedule, and charge for existing clinical services. Reviews activities that enable the program to minimize expenses, maximize revenue and ensures adherence to program budget. Monitors and explains variances to approved budgets and presents alternatives for achieving goals.
+ Provides projections and presents recommendations to senior leadership teams and other stakeholders. Understands and effectively incorporates rapidly evolving healthcare trends, including development of quality, safety and other patient care metrics that measure and reward the performance and productivity of physicians and advanced practice practitioners in achieving high quality patient outcomes.
