The Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) team at Amazon Ads is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge solutions that help our tens of millions of advertisers understand the value of their ad spend while prioritizing customer privacy and measurement quality. We develop cutting-edge deterministic algorithms, machine learning models, causal models, and statistical approaches to empower advertisers with insights on the effectiveness of their ads in guiding customers from awareness to purchases. Our insights help advertisers build full-funnel advertising strategies. We maximize the information we extract from incomplete traffic signals and alternative sources to capture the impact of their ad spending for both Amazon recognized and anonymous traffic. Our vision is to lead the industry in extracting and combining information from several sources to enable advertisers to optimize their return on their ad spend.
Key job responsibilities
As the leader of Modeled Measurement science team, you will be responsible for setting the vision and execution of privacy safe modeled measurement solutions based on cutting-edge technologies. You will lead teams of Applied Scientists, Economists, and Data Scientists to work backwards from customer needs and translate product ideas into concrete deliverables. You will be the thought leader for inventing scalable measurement solutions that support highly accurate and actionable insights. You will solve hard problems, advance science at Amazon, and be the leading innovator in privacy-safe modeled measurement solutions. You will be working with massive data, a dedicated engineering team, and industry-leading partner scientists. Your team’s work will help shape the future of Amazon Advertising.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of applied research experience
- 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience in causal inference, from RCT experiment design and analysis, to ML design and implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience in causal measurement within advertising highly preferred, both in RCT experiment design and analysis, and in ML model design and implementation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
