Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Monterey, California. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health of the organization by overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be passionate about driving efficiency, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company’s goals.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.

• Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, reports, and forecasts to support decision-making processes.

• Lead the development and implementation of financial controls and policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.

• Support annual budget planning and goal-setting initiatives, providing detailed financial analysis and recommendations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize operational performance and align financial strategies with business objectives.

• Direct and mentor accounting staff, fostering growth and ensuring adherence to best practices.

• Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.

• Coordinate audits, including financial and 401K audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Partner with leadership to enhance reporting capabilities using advanced accounting software systems.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline financial operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or Controller role.

• Strong operational focus and business acumen, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

• Proficiency in accounting software systems

• Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and auditing processes.

• Proven ability to manage budgeting and forecasting initiatives effectively.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor team members.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work across departments and with senior management.
