    Job Overview:

    The Performance Improvement Specialist (PIS) represents and advances RWJBarnabas Health s interest as the preferred and ultimate preeminent health system through superior customer service and execution of Physicians performance improvement strategies.

     

    The Performance Improvement Specialist represents commitment to developing and managing high performance network and to engaging various Physicians performance improvement strategies that follow five core principles: Quality Improvement, Cost Optimization, Clinical Efficiency, Administrative Efficiency, and Population Health. This PIS position will also be responsible for Merit based Incentive Payment Systems (MIPS) and will manage and coordinate the MIPS program for healthcare providers, ensuring they meet the requirements and achieve optimal performance. This includes monitoring quality measures, tracking data submission, providing education on documentation, and working with our service leaders and IT&S to improve performance.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    + Associate Degree or equivalent

    + Two to four years of healthcare experience

    + Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, management, and technology skills.

    + Must demonstrate team building and collaborative practice behaviors.

    + Must demonstrate understanding of performance improvement and quality outcomes management.

    + Physician office operations experience

    + Ability to travel various part of New Jersey to visit the Physician/Physician Groups

    + Demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, and use good judgement in a fast-paced environment.

    + Strong presentation and problem-solving skills; familiar with root cause analysis

    Essential Functions:

    + Serves as health system liaison for Physicians/Physician groups in a specified geographical location. Will be the main point of contact for the respective physician/physician groups for all the issues including quality performance, referral pattern, patient outreach, cost optimization, and building relationship.

    + Participate in various Organization Projects to build a better Health System.

    + Conducts Physician on-boarding in various program; the on-boarding process includes but not limited to a comprehensive orientation of the health system, array of benefits, physician s responsibilities, etc.

    + Responsible for monitoring and coordinates recurring meeting with Physician/Physician groups to go over their quality performance, gaps in care, chronic fall-out outreach, and financial performance; to create strategic improvement plans.

    + Contribute creative solutions and ownership of daily assignments for seamless communication and systematic completion of routine and special projects. Follow protocols and use common sense to escalate situations to management appropriately.

    + Participates in meeting by providing analysis, feedback and recommendations that foster a successful relationship between RWJBarnabas Health System, essential Physicians, and external agencies.

    + Works cohesively with other departments with both clinical and non-clinical personnel to provide the best support for the Physicians to perform well.

    + Stay up-to-date on changes to MIPS program rules, coding guidelines, and documentation standard

    + Ensure accurate and timely reporting of quality measures, and track performance on the EPIC MIPS dashboard

    + Work with service line leaders to finalize, track, and submit data to MIPS registries

    + Review clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness, provide feedback, and develop educational materials (with EPIC)

    + Understand and support the MIPS requirements for interoperability and improvement activities, crucial for overall MIPS success

    + Understand and contribute to efforts to manage and improve the cost of patient care, a key component of MIPS
