Responsibilities

St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Pharmacist to join our dynamic team serving both our comprehensive Dignity Health Cancer Institute and Barrow Neuroplex Infusion Clinic. This exciting opportunity allows you to leverage your clinical expertise across two distinct yet complementary specialties, positively impacting patient care in oncology and neurology settings. You will be a key member of collaborative care teams, working closely with providers, nurses, navigators and other healthcare professionals. This role is at the forefront of advanced cancer and neurological treatment, requiring strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in both oncology and neurology infusion settings, focusing on minimizing medication-related harm and optimizing patient outcomes.

Adhere to all relevant regulatory, accreditation and hospital standards of care, including USP chapters and departmental policies.

Proactively review and assess order sets, regimen templates, and medication order sentences across both oncology and neurology patient populations to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.

Actively participate in medication formulary management, including review, updates and presentations to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.

Collaborate with financial and pharmacy staff to facilitate the timely acquisition of prior authorizations for medications.

Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, guiding research projects, providing mentorship and offering feedback on research discussions.

Develop and maintain expertise in the safe and effective use of medications specific to both oncology and neurology patient populations.

Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of clinical pharmacy services within both the cancer institute and neurology infusion clinic.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy

One year of work experience in hospital or outpatient oncology or neurology practice

Preferred Qualifications:

PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency with Oncology or Neurology focus or 3 years of hospital pharmacy

experience

Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) or relevant neurology certification

Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, preferably Cerner

Strong understanding of chemotherapy and/or neurology infusion therapies

Pay Range

$56.83 - $82.40 /hour
