About This Role:
The Student Support Specialist for Academic Coaching is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and enhancing
peer academic coaching programs within the institution. The role involves supervising a team of peer academic coaches, monitoring program effectiveness, and collaborating with academic and administrative departments to ensure student support services align with institutional goals. The work drives continuous improvement in student engagement and academic performance while ensuring coaches are well-trained and motivated to help students succeed.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities
+ Hire, train, and supervise peer academic coaching staff utilizing College Reading and Learning Association ( CRLA ) guidelines and standards.
+ Assist the Assistant Director with developing, implementing, and managing peer academic coaching programs.
+ Create and oversee schedules and sessions for peer academic coaches.
+ Create and deliver student success workshop presentations for a variety of stakeholders including students, peer academic coaches, supervisory staff, and key department leaders.
+ Assist with assessing, evaluating, and growing programs.
+ Utilize EAB Navigate system for appointments, communication, and reporting.
+ Assist with advancing partnerships with multiple departments and individuals across campus.
+ Assist with marketing and promoting services.

+ Oversee the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing supervision of peer academic coaches utilizing College Reading and Learning Association ( CRLA ) guidelines and standards.
+ Assist the Assistant Director with developing, implementing, and managing peer academic coaching programs.
+ Analyze academic coaching data to create comprehensive Excel and/or Smartsheet reports regarding student success benchmarks and to make program decisions to ensure best practices, while collecting and analyzing data from coaching sessions to identify trends and opportunities for program enhancement.
+ Create and oversee schedules and sessions for peer academic coaches.
+ Utilize EAB Navigate system for appointments, communication, and reporting.
+ Monitor and track day-to-day peer academic coaching operations.
+ Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and offer professional development opportunities to ensure high-quality coaching practices.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact between peer academic coaches, faculty, and administrative staff to ensure alignment with curricular goals and support services.
+ Maintain comprehensive records and reports related to peer academic coaching activities and outcomes.
+ Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Proactively research and integrate innovative academic success strategies and technologies into the coaching framework.

Job Conditions: Typical schedule is M-F 8am-5pm; with some after-hours work.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
+ Must have one year of experience in higher education or secondary education.
+ Must be proficient in data analysis and data tracking.

Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree.
+ Experience working in academic support in higher education.
+ Experience supervising student workers and knowledge of theory, strategies, and best practices for student retention.
+ Knowledge of the university educational system and student retention.
+ Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data-driven decision-making to assess program effectiveness.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
