The Endocrine Society is pleased to announce the creation of the Director of Advancement position, a pivotal role dedicated to the strategic development and expansion of the recently revitalized Hormone Foundation. This role is responsible for inspiring and securing donors and accountable for meeting or surpassing fundraising targets. The Director of Advancement will be responsible for developing and executing the fundraising plan, leading donor stewardship, partnership and relationship development, and event planning. Additionally, the Director of Advancement provides operational leadership to Hormone Foundation fundraising in alignment with the Foundation’s values. The incumbent in this role will work closely with the Board of Trustees and the Endocrine Society Board of Directors to ensure secured funding is in alignment of values between the two organizations.
What you’ll bring to the job:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six years of experience in fundraising and development and at least 3 years in a leadership role managing individual giving and/or digital fundraising efforts.
Proven track record of driving fundraising revenue through donor engagement strategies through digital channels and direct mail.
Proven track record of successful donor engagement, raising funds from diverse sources and growing major gifts.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to design strategic fundraising campaigns.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to craft compelling donor communications and presentations.
Exceptional interpersonal skill and emotional intelligence to build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships.
Demonstrated self-starter with a proactive attitude who can anticipate needs.
Passion for the Hormone Foundation's mission and a commitment to advancing hormone health.
Ability to travel up to 20%.

What you’ll own:
Fundraising Lead: Implement a comprehensive strategic plan to advance the Foundation’s mission and goals. Design and execute a robust fundraising strategy to secure financial support from diverse sources, including individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Evaluate the performance of fundraising efforts to inform future activities and direction. Leverage technology to improve fundraising activities.
Partnership and Relationship Development: Establish, maintain and foster relationships with donors and funding partners. Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to identify strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships to include healthcare organizations, research institutions and community groups. Create and maintain comprehensive donor recognition programs and establish and maintain a donor database to ensure complete and orderly records.
Event Planning: Lead planning and delivery of Hormone Foundation events and activities that profile the Foundation to prospective donors and the community.
Operational Management: Collaborate with the Endocrine Society staff to optimize shared services and resources. Ensure alignment of the Foundation’s activities with the broader goals of the Endocrine Society. Serve as a primary liaison to the Hormone Foundation Board of Trustees and provide regular updates and reports to the Trustees and the Endocrine Society Board of Director’s regarding the Foundation’s campaign progress and financial status. Other responsibilities:
Enhance the Foundation's visibility and reputation through effective marketing and communication strategies.
Oversee grant writing and reporting processes.
Support the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its governance responsibilities

Work Location:
This position is located in Washington, DC and walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 2 days per week to foster our collaborative culture and support cross-functional interaction.
