As a Clinical Assistant I, you will function as a member of the Patient Care Team by utilizing your knowledge of nursing theory and diseases processes to provide top-quality care to patients in the Cardiology Unit. Your fellow caregivers in this department prioritize teamwork, going above and beyond to create a uniform and supportive environment for all. You will have ample opportunities to grow alongside them as you explore professional courses to enhance your nursing skills.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM - 5:00PM and 8:00AM - 4:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Provide patient care and accurate medication administration as required.

+ Documents medical records, authorization forms and laboratory requisitions and implements pain management assessment and documentation.

+ Demonstrate knowledge of disease process and therapeutics by recognizing changes in patients' status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians.

+ Utilize opportunity for health teaching of patient, family and others through appropriate teaching methods related to growth and development and age specific factors.

+ Participate in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, share knowledge and experiences, and provide guidance when assigned.

+ Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times.

+ Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.

+ Follow Code Blue protocol as per Clinic Policy.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Graduate of Accredited Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) Program

+ Knowledge of Infection Control Practices

+ Computer literacy

+ Current licensure as a Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

+ One year of clinical experience

+ EKG and manual blood pressure experience

Physical Requirements:

+ Frequent walking, sitting and standing

+ Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations

+ Frequent use of the phone, fax machines and computer

+ Constant lifting and moving of patients

+ Carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel

+ Stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient into position for treatment

+ Reaching, handling, feeling and manipulating equipment into position

+ Some exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens

+ Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
