Job Summary:
The Title IX and Civil Rights Investigator (Investigator) will be responsible for conducting investigations in support of the University’s Title IX and Anti-Discrimination office. The Investigator will conduct fair and unbiased investigations of allegations of violations under Title IX, VAWA , Clery Act, Title VI, Title VII and other relevant laws and University policies.
Additionally, the Investigator will be responsible for case management, hearing preparation, and the preparation and delivery of student and employee programming on relevant issues.
The Investigator will be responsible for conducting investigations, which may be held either in person or via an online platform, of allegations occurring on all four University campuses. Coordination with University departments such as Public Safety, Student Affairs and Human Resources will be critical to the success of the Investigator.
This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Administrative Operations and University Title IX & Anti-Discrimination Coordinator.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree (BA) required from an accredited four-year college or university and three or more years of investigatory or relevant professional experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience (including internships) to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position will be considered. Experience in higher education preferred.
2. Strong writing and communication skills required.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of Title VI, Title VII , Title IX, and VAWA strongly preferred.
4. Ability to manage a multiple, on-going and complex caseload.
5. Effective project management, organization and analytical skills.
6. Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituents.
7. Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
8. Ability to build relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the University.
9. Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a wide range of constituencies with diplomacy and tact.
10. Ability to hold conversations in Spanish a plus.
11. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
12. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
13. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
