    The opportunity:

    This role will provide direct supervision to hourly maintenance personnel to safely achieve maximum equipment uptime at the lowest cost.

    How you will impact Smurft Westrock:

    * Administers and models safety in his/her area of responsibility. Participates in and supports the safety programs for the maintenance department. Reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and mill safety policies.

    * Available for maintenance and personnel support via calls or texts 24hr/day; is a team member on a rotating weekend/holiday schedule and provides on-call support and leadership for maintenance.

    * May include responsibility for contractor management on a semi-frequent basis.

    * Sets expectations of the crews and provides direction using SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely). Able to hold team accountable for effectiveness around safety, quality, and productivity goals.

    * Maintains the equipment in assigned area to achieve the maximum possible uptime at the lowest possible cost. Supports all mill and department reliability goals and initiatives including managing preventative and predictive maintenance route compliance and quality and ensuring precision standard work on all jobs.

    * Utilizes JD Edwards CMMS as a primary tool of the mill maintenance process. Works with operational departments to execute daily work, create schedules weekly, plan field days and outages, and assign resources and man hours for jobs as needed.

    What you need to succeed:

    * Bachelors or Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering OR

    * 5 years or more of experience in the heavy industrial or process industries, Pulp & Paper experience preferred

    * 5 years or more experience in a supervisory role preferred

    * Personal computer skills

    * Maintenance experience in the following areas:

    * Rotating equipment

    * Bearings

    * Drives and couplings

    * Alignment and other precision tools

    * Pumps
