    Job Title: Director of Radiation TherapyDepartment: Radiation Therapy & OncologyLocation: Lipson Cancer Institute - Rochester General Hospital

     

    Hours Per Week: 40 hoursSchedule: Days; 8am - 5pm | Monday-Friday

    SUMMARY

    Manages hospital and department issues as directed by the Administrator, Cancer Services and the Chief, Radiation Oncology. Coordinates, facilitates and monitors the daily activities of the Radiation Oncology department in accordance with departmental and institutional policy. Participates in maintaining a level of patient satisfaction that is acceptable to standards set by the hospital. Coordinates the quality improvement activities of the department. Assists in the marketing initiatives of the department.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Assumes direct supervisory responsibility for the Senior Radiation Therapists and department's clerical staff, and works closely with the Director, Medical Physics and Sr. Nurse Manager to ensure smooth departmental operations.

    + Responsible for assessing, on a daily basis, areas of operational need and re-allocating staff to maximize efficient flow of patient volume through department.

    + Ensures a smooth flow of information among sections of the department, i.e: Physicians, Physics, Nursing, Therapists a nd Secretaries

    + Leads the selection and evaluation of staff.

    + Participates in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives for the department, and monitors their progress

    + Encourages participation of all department members in the identification of opportunities to better meet the expectations of its customers

    + Oversees the development of an in-service educational program for all employees and regularly evaluates its effectiveness.

    + Assists in implementing opportunities to increase market share, including making physician office calls and providing staff support to the ViaHealth marketing department in carrying out marketing plans

    + Assumes a Radiation Therapist job assignment when necessary.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICTIONS:

    + Graduate of approved school of Radiation Therapy

    + 5 years experience as a Radiation Therapist

    + 5 years experience in a management position

    + NYS Licensure as Radiation Therapist

    PREFERRED QUALIFICTIONS:

    + AART registration preferred

    EDUCATION:

    LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

    RT(R) - Registered Radiologic Technologist - New York State Education Department (NYSED), RTC - Radiologic Technologist certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    PAY RANGE:

    $90,000.00 - $135,000.00

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
