Job Title: Data Center Energy MarshalJob Description
The Data Center Energy Marshal is responsible for ensuring the implementation and adherence to the Energy Isolation Program within the data center campus and project. This role requires expertise in DC construction and commissioning standards, as well as the ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and oversee quality control measures.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure vendors’ and contractors’ Energy Isolation Program meets or exceeds safety policy requirements.
+ Utilize SPS-101 Energy Isolation SPS and Guidebook as the baseline for the Energy Isolation Program.
+ Establish and manage an Energy Isolation assurance process and close any gaps identified in audits.
+ Participate in High Risk Activity (HRA) planning meetings related to Energy Isolation.
+ Ensure approval processes for proposed Energy Isolation procedures are in place.
+ Work with the Authorizing Energy Marshal to establish an Energy Isolation Permit process.
+ Review SoWs, MOPs, and ensure all sources of energy are identified.
+ Determine if group or individual Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) is required and establish a centralized LOTO system.
+ Verify qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel performing the work.
+ Coordinate with MS Operations where energy isolation activities may impact data center operations.
+ Act as a subject matter expert in Energy Isolation incident investigations.
+ Serve as an independent authority for stopping unsafe work practices regarding Energy Isolation.
+ Monitor contractor activities and ensure effective quality control/assurance design as per contract specifications.
+ Track all quality control documentation using company programs.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience in electrical, mechanical, commissioning within data centers.
+ Experience in DC construction and commissioning standards and practices.
+ Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to engineers and non-engineers.
+ Experience in auditing site practices against written standards.
+ Strong interpretation skills for line drawings and system redundancies.
+ Familiarity with multiple sources of energy in data centers, especially electrical.
+ Engineering degree (preferred).
+ 70E NFPA certification.
+ Understanding of ASTM requirements.
+ Ability to write and control MOPs for energy isolation.
+ Experience with Data Center electrical and mechanical energy isolation and construction practices.
+ Master Electrician license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering and build experience.
+ Experience managing and leading teams.
+ Safety expertise and field/management experience.
+ Electrical engineering degree or equivalent field experience as an electrician in a commercial space.
Work Environment
This position typically requires a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with an estimated 10 hours per day. The work environment involves overseeing construction projects and managing general contractors, ensuring energy isolation protocols are strictly followed to maintain safety and prevent incidents.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $67.00/hr.
