Job Description: Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer will design and redesign detailed mechanical systems using SolidWorks, specifically for the government industry. The role involves drafting and detailing, with a focus on creating precise designs according to specifications and codes. The engineer will collaborate with the Service Group and work on projects such as designing cranes and material handling equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Design cranes, material handling equipment, and other devices using SolidWorks in a structured 3-D environment.
+ Perform initial sizing calculations for mechanical drive systems and apply motors, gearboxes, couplings, and other components.
+ Follow customer specifications and industry codes precisely from various countries.
+ Annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols, ANSI machining symbols, and other standardized signs.
+ Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) to itemize all components of mechanical designs.
+ Collaborate with other disciplines like electrical, structural, and civil teams for turn-key projects.
+ Implement design changes for existing equipment modernization projects.
+ Provide phone support and technical assistance to installation crews or customers.
+ Develop detailed technical specifications and procedures for customer use.
+ Optimize bridge girders, trolleys, and other crane components to reduce costs and improve delivery schedules.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks.
+ Experience in OEM/Industrial equipment industry.
+ Ability to design heavy weldments.
+ Associates or Bachelors degree in engineering or related field.
+ Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience with SolidWorks.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in OEM/Industrial equipment industry or heavy weldment design.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
