Lab Technician
Job Description
As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for managing technical service requests, conducting routine and complex tests, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. You will execute application and laboratory test plans, adapting to a dynamic work environment while effectively communicating with colleagues and customers.
Responsibilities
+ Manage technical service requests, including documentation, status updates, and communication with requestors.
+ Conduct both routine and complex tests and analyses with precision and efficiency.
+ Maintain laboratory equipment, products, and supplies, including performing preventative maintenance, managing shipments, ensuring lab cleanliness, and supporting standardization and 5S practices.
+ Execute application and laboratory test plans to support material and process characterizations, as well as root cause analysis.
+ Adapt to a dynamic work environment that may involve repetitive tasks and shifting priorities.
+ Communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
+ Solve problems independently with minimal supervision.
+ Contribute to quality improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
+ Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulations and practice safe work habits.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in chemistry and materials science.
+ Experience in laboratory operations and material testing.
+ Skills in sample preparation and mixing raw materials.
+ Knowledge of process control, adhesive, and tensile testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate Degree in a Scientific Discipline or similar (Materials Science and Chemistry most relevant). Bachelors degree is preferred.
+ Hands-on experience with material testing, sample preparation, and mixing raw materials.
+ Bachelor's Degree preferred.
+ Experience in adhesives or coatings (1-3 years ideally).
+ Hands-on experience with tensile testing, pressure sensitivity testing, peel testing, melting, and mixing plastics.
+ Experience managing or running a project independently or with minimal support.
Work Environment
The Lab Technician will work in a lab/desk environment alongside a team of full-time employees and contractors. The team is characterized by a strong culture with multiple networking groups and employee resource groups, as well as extracurricular activities like a golf league, fantasy football, picnics, and lunches. The role offers exposure to diverse technologies and processes within the lab, supporting about ten different industries. There is significant room for growth, with opportunities to advance into engineer and scientist positions. The company emphasizes sustainability and is expanding into various industries, including cosmetics, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
