Position Summary

Responsible for the interpretation and application of construction, operation and maintenance policy and standards and translation of their requirements to develop a portfolio of service providers with the abilities to perform design/build projects for the Xcel Energy Delivery Enterprise. Direct the analysis of project data to include adherence to negotiated performance expectations. Influence decisions that balance operational performance and financial performance with risk while improving customer satisfaction. Actively plays the role of advocate for the Asset owner in decisions regarding the acquisition, disposition and/or construction of substation, gas and electric distribution assets. Directs the development and structure of processes that provide for consistent application of Asset Management strategies to meet internal, and regulatory requirements that govern policies and the operational performance of system assets.

Essential Responsibilities

+ Provide strategic leadership for the interpretation of construction, operation and maintenance policy and standards and translation to develop a portfolio of service providers with the abilities to perform design/build projects for the Xcel Energy Delivery Enterprise. Direct the analysis of project data and initiate action to improve the performance of system assets.

+ Consult with Asset Managers and Service Providers and strongly influence the decisions that balance operational performance and financial performance with risk while improving customer satisfaction. Directs the development and structure of process that provide for consistent application of construction strategies to meet internal and regulatory requirements that govern safety policies and the operational performance of system assets.

+ Manage the progress of large projects and a budget covering substation construction, $3 million and greater single projects and commodity purchase points across the 12 state Xcel Energy Delivery Enterprise. Proactively position the Asset Owner to maximize and grow the value of the assets in a changing competitive environment.

+ Provide oversight for the integration of project related problems by recommending, prioritizing and securing funding for construction activities as required or as directed by senior management.

+ Anticipate and aggressively pursue issues that may impact project completion and customer satisfaction. Integrate corporate policies, priorities and objectives to improve the operational performance of system assets. Apply industry best practices, proven models and success factors to establish performance expectations.

+ Responsible for daily management activities, including decisions that are thoughtful well defined, easily understood, process driven and defensible. Recommend long-term goals for the unit and strategies for achieving those goals. Hire, develop, motivate, coach and counsel employees.

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration or a combination of demonstrated education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

+ Ten years electric or gas distribution operation, design or maintenance and construction experience which includes a minimum of five years management experience.

Preferred Requirements

+ Understanding of corporate budgeting processes and procedures

+ Experience with various Xcel Energy processes and procedures

+ Experience in a cross-functional environment

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $109,500.00 to $144,050.00 per year
