    Job Title: Event Coordinator - Maggie Daley ParkReports To: Facility ManagerEmployment Type: Full-Time/ Salaried - Exempt

    Position Overview:

    Maggie Daley Park, a dynamic and beloved urban space in downtown Chicago, is seeking a detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and resourceful Event Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and successful execution of a wide range of events and public programming. From large-scale seasonal attractions like The Ribbon and the Holiday Light Show, to private rentals, fitness classes, pop-up markets, family festivals, and community initiatives, the Event Coordinator will play a hands-on role in delivering exceptional experiences for guests of all ages.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of public, private, and partner-hosted events at the park.

    + Maintain event logistics, timelines, task lists, and supply checklists to ensure smooth operations.

    + Work with the Operations and Marketing department to bring events from concept to completion.

    + Serve as an on-site coordinator during events to ensure proper setup, execution, and breakdown.

    + Manage day-of-event logistics including vendor check-ins, volunteer assignments, and staff communication.

    + Troubleshoot issues in real-time and ensure guest satisfaction and safety at all times.

    + Coordinate with outside vendors, performers, and sponsors to ensure all event requirements are met.

    + Support contracting and permitting processes and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

    + Serve as a liaison between park management and third-party organizers during park-hosted activations.

    + Provide excellent customer service and act as a friendly, knowledgeable presence at events.

    + Answer questions from the public and ensure a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.

    + Gather visitor feedback and observations to help improve future event planning.

    + Maintain the park’s event calendar and reservation system, ensuring accurate scheduling and coordination.

    + Assist in tracking event metrics, attendance numbers, and participant feedback.

    + Help prepare post-event reports, photo documentation, and performance evaluations for internal review.

    + Proactively develop and execute engaging park activations on an ongoing basis.

    + Participate in setup and management of major park programming such as ribbon (ice skating/roller skating), climbing wall, Seasonal activations like holiday light shows, pop-up markets, food & beverage programming, and fitness classes, and private events, and more.

    + Complete other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Recreation, Parks & Leisure Services, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.

    + Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education.

    Skills & Abilities:

    + 2–4 years of experience in event coordination, public programming, hospitality, or parks & recreation.

    + Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, outdoor setting.

    + Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

    + Comfortable with hands-on tasks such as event setup, carrying supplies, and being on your feet for extended periods.

    + Positive, solutions-oriented attitude with a passion for community and public spaces.

    + CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

    + Ability to work weekend, evenings, mornings, and holidays.

     

    Salary Range: $57,000 - $62,000
